Study Region
The appliance of Terra-Preta-Technology and their ability to close material cycles as well as characteristics and potentials of TPS was examined and researched in the following model regions, strongly affected by regional, economical, demographical and climatic processes:
- county Teltow-Fläming, local community Nuthe-Urstromtal, state of Brandenburg
- county Western Lusatia, Oberspreewald-Lusatia, Elbe-Elster
- Schmallenberg, city of Schmallenberg, North Rhine-Westphalia
The selection of the study regions was made under consideration of great potentials of unused, low-yield areas post-mining areas, conversion areas) as well as humus-poor and low-nutrient forest areas affected by erosion.
